  • Brian Laundrie’s notebook appears to contain a confession that he killed Gabby Petito.

  • “I ended her life. I thought it was merciful that it is what she wanted,” it said.

  • Laundrie also said he chose to kill himself because he “couldn’t live another day without her”.

Brian Laundrie’s notebook, recovered in a Florida swamp by the FBI, appears to contain a confession that he was the one who killed Gabby Petito.

“I have ended her life,” said the notebook, Fox News reported Friday† “I thought it was compassionate, that it’s what she wanted, but now I see all the mistakes I made. I panicked. I was in shock.”

He wrote that he chose to kill her after she injured herself in a fall in Wyoming.

“From the moment I decided to take her pain away, I knew I couldn’t go on without her,” Laundrie wrote, according to the Fox News footage.

Wasserette and Petito left in the fall of 2021 on a cross-country trip that ended in their deaths. They had documented their travels extensively on social media and it was announced that Petito was missing on September 11.

Laundrie returned to his parents’ Florida home until he, too, went missing on September 13. Shortly afterwards, he was mentioned as a person of importance in Petito’s death.

Petito’s body was found on September 19 at a remote campground in the Bridger-Teton National Forest. Her cause of death was initially unclear, but nearly a month later, the Teton County coroner said Petito’s cause of death was strangulation.

It wasn’t until October 21 that authorities found the remains of the laundromat on the Carlton Reservation in Florida. They also found a backpack full of his belongings, including the notebook.

A coroner ruled on November 23 that Laundrie’s death was a suicide.

“I loved you more than anything,” the note — addressed to “Gabby” — continued in Laundrie’s notebook, according to the Fox News images.

“I can’t bear to look at our pictures, to remember great times, because that’s why I can’t go on,” he wrote. “When I close my eyes, I think of laying on the roof of the van and falling asleep to the sight of a meteor shower at the crystal geyser. I will always love you.’

He apologized to “anyone who will influence this,” namely Petito’s family, whom he wrote he “loves,” Fox News reported.

“Please don’t make this more difficult for them. This happened like an unexpected tragedy,” Laundrie wrote.

In the note, Laundrie described the injury he said Petito sustained and said he heard a “splash and a scream” near where they camped in Utah, where Laundrie said temperatures were below freezing.

When he said he found her in the water, he said she was “ice cold” and had “a small bump on her forehead that eventually got bigger.” He said he tried to get her to safety but wasn’t sure where their car was parked and that Petito wouldn’t allow him to carry her back across the creek into which she fell.

He described lying with Petito, who would get angry if Laundrie woke her from sleep, he said, because he was afraid she had a concussion.

He said he didn’t know the extent of her injuries, “just that she was in extreme pain.”

Laundrie wrote that he then “rushed home to spend the time I had left with my family.”

He added that he considered driving north to where Petito’s family lived and having her stepfather or brother kill him as “I’m sure they would have liked that.”

“I’m ending my life not for fear of punishment, but because I can’t bear to live another day without her. I’ve lost our whole future together, every moment we could have cherished,” Laundrie wrote at the end. of his tally, Fox News reported.

“I’m sorry for the loss of everyone. Please don’t make it harder for my family, they have lost a son and a daughter. The most beautiful girl in the world. Gabby, I’m sorry,” he added.

“I killed myself at this creek in the hopes that animals would tear me apart. That will make some of her family happy,” Laundrie wrote. “Please pick up all my things. Gabby hated people who messed up.’
